By popular demand, Saffron Hall announces a second date this season with star violinist Nicola Benedetti. Originally scheduled for just one concert with elite period-instrument ensemble La Cetra Barockorchester Basel and conductor Andrea Marcon, there was such demand for tickets that the programme of Italian Baroque concertos, including Vivaldi’s beloved The Four Seasons, will now also be performed on Friday 27 February at 8pm.
These concerts (27 & 28 February) are Nicola’s only UK performances with Marcon and La Cetra Barokorchester in a European tour which also includes performances in Basel (19 February); Aarhaus (25 February); Copenhagen (26 February); and Barcelona (1 March). They see Benedetti further her passion for music of the Italian Baroque and historical performance, four years after the success of her best-selling Baroque CD ‘Italia’. Her concerts at Saffron Hall follow collaborations with Andrea Marcon and WDR Cologne and Venice Baroque Orchestra in early autumn.
Beneditti’s concerts are just one highlight in Saffron Hall’s rich 2014/15 season which, in the second year of the UK’s newest world-class concert venue, aims to offer audiences an outstanding line-up of world-class artists and ensembles, from the hall’s first public concert from a professional symphony orchestra (London Philharmonic Orchestra) to intimate recitals from violinist Maxim Vengerov, tenor Ian Bostridge and pianist Paul Lewis.
