Saffron Centre for Young Musicians (SCYM), the new Saturday music school formed through a partnership with Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Saffron Hall, Essex Music Education Hub and Saffron Walden County High School, is offering new ensembles and curriculum options for 2016.
In addition to the core curriculum option, which for £220 a term (£22 a week) offers students the opportunity to play in at least one ensemble, sing in a choir and take a musicianship theory or aural class, SCYM is introducing an ‘Ensembles Only’ option. This is for students who would like to play in one or more of the Centre’s ensembles, but without joining a choir or taking a musicianship class. The cost per term of joining one ensemble is £100.
SCYM is also welcoming younger members to the Centre with a Kodaly musicianship class suitable for children aged 5-7, costing only £50 per term. Also new for 2016 are a jazz ensemble, a brass group and an orchestra, which are aimed at more experienced players.
