Cambridge Suzuki Young Musicians is delighted to return to Saffron Hall to perform a programme ranging from traditional classical to 21st century contemporary works, including early Suzuki Piano repertoire and works by Tchaikovsky, Bartok, Kabalevsky, Gyorgy Kurtag and Graham Fitkin, et al.

The Summer Festival Concert is the third in a very busy academic year, and highlights the efforts of 40 young pianists from Cambridge and surrounding areas who study with teachers & musical directors Stephen & Betty Power.

Students age 4-18 years range in ability from beginning stages to Advanced Diploma level. All students attend weekly piano lessons and Kodaly Musicianship classes where focus is on listening, tone and the development of the inner hearing.

CSYM extra-curricular opportunities include masterclasses with professional pianists, participation in festivals and/or competitions, e.g. EPTA local & regional competition, Brin d’Herbe contemporary music competition (Orleans, France), an annual CSYM Summer school focusing on chamber music, piano masterclasses, multi-piano ensembles and composition. 14 students and their families recently travelled to Milan, Italy to perform a concert of music by living composers in the city-wide piano festival.

This concert is free and is open to members of the public. Tickets are not required.
