Giulio Cesare is Handel’s most celebrated opera, and a real clash of titans on stage. A thrilling story of passion and revenge, it features music so beautiful and characters so strong that we have decided to present it complete.

Don’t miss this exhilaratingly epic drama, featuring our partner baroque orchestra The Old Street Band and a first-rate cast including Christopher Ainslie in the title role, and Soraya Mafi as Cleopatra.

Sung in Italian with surtitles.

Please note that pyrotechnic and smoke effects will be used during the performance.

Running times:
The performance of Giulio Cesare is in two parts.
Part one begins at 4pm and will finish at approximately 6.30pm (including a 20 minute interval).
There will then be a supper break which will last for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Part two begins at 8.15pm (15 minutes later than originally advertised) and will finish at approximately 10.10pm (including a 20 minute interval).

Picnics:
If you have ordered a picnic from the Little Kitchen Company then you will be able to collect your picnic from the box office desk during the supper break between Part 1 and Part 2. Our front of house team will be able to direct you to a seating area where you can enjoy your picnic.

Interval talk:
There will be an interval talk during the supper break between Part 1 and Part 2. The talk begins at 7.15pm and will last for approximately 25 minutes. It will be led by the team from English Touring Opera and will include an overview of the opera and a discussion about the production. The talk is free to ticket holders and does not need to be booked in advance. The talk will take place in room E7. There will be plenty of signs to show you the way and our stewards will be on hand to direct you.
