English Touring Opera: Rameau — Dardanus

English Touring Opera: Rameau — Dardanus

Presented by Saffron Hall

Rameau

ETO is proud to present the first performance in the UK of the 1744 version of Dardanus, Rameau’s undoubted masterpiece. Jupiter’s son Dardanus is in love with Iphise, the daughter of his enemy Teucer – a love that, though reciprocated, is forbidden. So begins a ravishing tale of love in war, containing some of the composer’s finest music including the stunning aria Lieux funestes.

Sung in French with surtitles.

Pre-show talk from 6.30pm.

The performance will finish at approximately 10.10pm.

Please note that pyrotechnic and smoke effects will be used during the performance.
