James Farm

James Farm

Presented by Saffron Hall

Direct from the EFG London Jazz Festival…
James Farm is a stellar American quartet fronted by saxophonist Joshua Redman and pianist Aaron Parks and completed by a rhythm section powered by drummer Eric Harland and bassist Matt Penman – a real contender for the title of jazz super group of today. Their recent Nonesuch album City Folk combines fluent contemporary bop soloing and compelling improvisations around pop-like tunes, with country ballads and European folk mutations.

The quartet has received critical acclaim since its debut at the 2009 Montreal Jazz Festival, where they played to a packed house and rave reviews. James Farm’s latest album, City Folk, is a collection of ten original tunes written by all four members of the collaborative band:

"Ten beautifully crafted miniatures that rock with rhythm" Financial Times
"Enthralling improvisations (on) this inviting set" The Guardian
"Four crack musicians and improvisers whose fierce grooves and synergy make for spine-tingling listening" Evening Standard

This concert will finish at approximately 9pm and there will not be an interval.

Post-concert jazz

Pianist James Beckwith will be performing solo jazz in the foyer after the concert and the bar will remain open for post-show drinks.
