Kronos Quartet
Kronos QuartetPresented by Saffron Hall
Steve Reich uses taped reminiscences from survivors of WWII and their profoundly contrasting war-time rail journeys – both in Europe and America – in his iconic work Different Trains played here by Kronos, the legendary string quartet who commissioned and premiered it nearly 30 years ago.
This bold and dazzling concert also includes a thrilling commission based on music from Mali, a new work by Martin Green from folk group Lau, music by Laurie Anderson and Terry Riley, and an arrangement of Pete Townshend’s (The Who) Baba O’Riley. Kronos – breaking boundaries with fresh ears!
