Michael Morpurgo – The Best of Times

Michael Morpurgo – The Best of Times

Presented by Saffron Hall

The Best of Times is an uplifting Christmas story that plays on every last heart-string from Britain's best-loved children's author, Michael Morpurgo. When the Prince and the Princess marry, joy rings out across the land. But all too soon it fades away and a shadow hangs over the royal palace. As Christmas approaches, Prince Frederico must find a way to warm his new bride's aching heart.

This adaptation for concert performance features a blend of English courtly and pastoral music (from John Dowland to Vaughan Williams) together with evocative middle-European gypsy melodies music, sensitively interweaving the story. The role of the Princess is expressively performed by a solo dancer throughout. A winter's delight and the ideal Christmas concert.

The concert lasts approximately 70 minutes with no interval
