Saffron Walden Choral Society

Saffron Walden Choral Society

Presented by Saffron Hall

Two Mozart masterworks, one great, one small, reflecting love’s inspiration. Mozart’s vow to write a mass after his marriage to Constanze produced The Great C Minor Mass. Interspersed with monumental choruses, it includes a beautiful solo written specially for her voice. ‘Et incarnatus est’; described by Pope Francis as “matchless; it lifts you to God”. Similarly, a tender Romanze lies at the heart of Mozart’s 'little serenade’, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. Award-winning composer Janet Wheeler conducts I Sing and Ever Shall, her celebration of singing’s many inspirations, setting texts from Dickinson, Tagore, Herrick and others, including the Muse of Love.

This event is due to finish at approximately 9.35pm. It will have a 20-minute interval.

Unfortunately, Katie Trethewey is now unable to join us for this concert, but we are delighted that Philippa Hyde will be joining us in her place.
