Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra - The PlanetsPresented by Saffron Hall
Imagine a weather report from 2 billion years ago: ‘Clouds, mainly of cyanide and ammonia, will block out the sun. Air quality will be appalling - particularly if you like oxygen.’ Science educator Frank Burnet narrates his witty and amusing account of the history of life on earth (complete with plenty of exciting dinosaur action!), accompanied by a brilliant score from Joanna Ive. Holst’s musical depiction of the solar system, The Planets, journeys from the thunderous violence of Mars, via the sweeping grandeur of Jupiter (including the tune ‘I vow to thee, my country’) to the strange, shifting chords of mysterious Neptune.
This concert will finish at approximately 4.45pm
