The Hot Sardines

The Hot Sardines

Presented by Saffron Hall

Hot Sardines

The Sardine sound is steeped in hot jazz, gypsy swing – a slice of between-the-wars Paris via New Orleans. They’re sure to take the world by storm over the next few years — their debut album was named in iTunes ‘Best of Year’ list 2018.

Take a blustery brass front line, add a salty stride piano in the timeless image of Fats Waller, a frontwoman with the attitude and style of a 30s cabaret diva, and you have The Hot Sardines. And that’s not to mention the tap dancer.

With new album French Fries & Champagne, the jazz collective broadens its already impressive palette, combining covers and originals as they effortlessly channel New York speakeasies, Parisian cabarets and New Orleans jazz halls into a smoking live show.
