Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto

Samuel Barber's Violin Concerto

Presented by Saffron Hall

1930s America: two composers in search of their roots.

William L Dawson explores his African heritage, in a symphony of sweeping romantic power. Samuel Barber looks to Europe, and writes a violin concerto filled with singing melodies. This is music with a big personality; but with violinist Elena Urioste, and Proms favourite Dalia Stasevska conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra, there’ll be charisma to spare.
