Presented by English Touring Opera

Saffron Hall are pleased to be able to offer this free event to ticket holders for either of our upcoming ETO performances and Saffron Hall members. The event takes place in St Mary's Church, Saffron Walden (not Saffron Hall).

As part of their Handelfest celebrating the work of one of the greatest composers of all time, English Touring Opera present a recital of opera arias composed by Handel for the singers Francesca Cuzzoni and Giuseppe Maria Boschi, who starred in many of his productions.

Soprano Hilary Cronin and baritone Jerome Knox, winners of the London Handel Competition in 2021 and 2020, present a selection of arias written for two of Handel’s favourite singers, together with a brief description of their careers. They are conducted by Alexander Robinson, with a small chamber group drawn from the Old Street Band.

Visiting information
The recital will start at 3pm and will run for approximately an hour with no interval. You are welcome to enter through the main west door (a few steps) or the south door (wheelchair accessible with ramp). If the weather is cold on Saturday, you may wish to bring an extra layer with you as St Mary's Church can be a little chilly at this time of year.

Parking
There is no on-site parking available for this event. The closest car park is Swan Meadow. You can find more information about visiting the church from Swan Meadow on the church's website: visit St Mary's Church website
