English Touring Opera: Tamerlano

English Touring Opera: Tamerlano

Presented by Saffron Hall in association with English Touring Opera

A gripping psychological contest between Tamerlano, the Emperor of the Tartars, and his captive Bajazet, Sultan of the Turks, Tamerlano is the most perfect of Handel’s operas, and a true marriage of drama and music.

It was written in a year of inspired creativity that also saw the composition of Giulio Cesare and Rodelinda, and features one of the first major tenor roles in opera. English Touring Opera present Tamerlano in a new production from Artistic Director James Conway, performed with ETO’s period instrument partners The Old Street Band.

Stage Effects
Please note that this production features the use of haze, naked flames and flashing lights throughout.

Pre-concert talk
English Touring Opera will be running a free pre-concert talk for this event, which will take place between 6pm and 6.30pm in Room E7. Members of the creative team will share insights into this new production of Handel's Tamerlano. There will be plenty of signs to show you the way and our stewards will be on hand to direct you when you arrive.

Our shuttle bus will run from 5.30pm until 7pm before this event to accommodate for this.
