ETO: The Silver Lake - A Winter’s Tale

ETO: The Silver Lake - A Winter’s Tale

Presented by Saffron Hall

The Silver Lake

By the Silver Lake, a desperate man steals a pineapple, and triggers a chain of events that blur the boundaries between rich and poor, forgiveness and revenge, fantasy and all-too-recognisable reality. Banned by the Nazis, Kurt Weill’s “play with music” is filled with all the melody, wit and satire you would expect from the creator of The Threepenny Opera; in English Touring Opera’s new production it becomes a fairytale for our own time.

Sung in German with English narration and English surtitles.

★★★★
"A larger than life performance of a show that could hardly be more topical"
The Independent
