Fenella Humphreys, Nicola Eimer & Dr Leah Broad

Fenella Humphreys, Nicola Eimer & Dr Leah Broad

Presented by Saffron Hall

Tickets from £10

Price includes a commission of £1.00

Award-winning Fenella Humphreys is an exceptional violinist, a joyously natural communicator, and a passionate advocate for under-represented composers. In a collaboration with pianist Nicola Eimer and writer Dr Leah Broad, she explores forgotten voices, some of the most important but sidelined figures of 20th century music.

Broad’s eye-catching 2023 book Quartet: How Four Women Changed the World is an ambitious intertwined biography of four female composers - Ethel Smyth, Rebecca Clarke, Doreen Carwithien, and Dorothy Howell.

Here their music is allowed to blossom after years of neglect, introduced and embellished through extracts from their journals and correspondence. Four exceptional, trailblazing composers forging careers against the odds, all with fascinating stories to tell.
