Julian Bliss Septet
Julian Bliss SeptetPresented by Saffron Hall
The King of Swing. Julian Bliss is one of the most versatile, talented and adventurous clarinettists around. With his celebrated septet, he pays tribute to one of his instrument’s great heroes - the legendary Benny Goodman, international jazz superstar from the Golden Age of Swing and - like Bliss - a master at switching seamlessly between jazz and classical worlds.
Tonight it is swing all the way. Bliss and his band feature classic standards made famous by Benny Goodman and his Rhythm Makers in the 1930s - I Would do Most Anything for You, Don’t Be Stompin’ That Way and Al Jolson’s Avalon, alongside some unforgettable George Gershwin hits – Summertime and I Got Rhythm among them. With new and exciting arrangements, The Julian Bliss Septet bring a 2020s twist to the great tunes of the swing era with style, verve and affection.
