London Philharmonic Orchestra

Presented by Saffron Hall

Tickets from £27

Price includes a commission of £1.00

The many faces of Mozart make for an enthralling first half, containing the dark sonorities of his dignified memorial, a concerto of regal pomp and elegance and an overture that offers us all the turmoil, tenderness and hope of a full opera distilled into its compact curtain-raiser.

Rachmaninov’s mighty symphony is pure heart-on-sleeve Romanticism, an ardent, thrilling masterpiece unfurling a stream of melodies, each one seemingly more lovely than the last. LPO Principal Guest Conductor Karina Cannellakis has formed a persuasive partnership with her orchestra, capturing all the orchestral colour and emotional breadth from programmes as richly varied as this. Paul Lewis, a Saffron Hall regular, brings refinement, wit and poise to Mozart’s concerto.
