Mitsuko Uchida
Mitsuko UchidaPresented by Saffron Hall

Beethoven has been a touchstone throughout Dame Mitsuko Uchida’s career, her performances and recordings of the sonatas and piano concertos strewn with accolades.
Her recent revisiting of his late piano music has proved revelatory. It is music of such rich variety, originality and profound expression that it calls us all back time and again. “The great composers always change” she once said “and as you change, they change.” Nowhere is her blend of finesse and spontaneity, deep thought and exquisite poetry heard to better effect than in the mighty triptych of the final piano sonatas.
