St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra

Presented by Saffron Hall

Yuri Temirkanov

The best of Russia comes to Saffron Hall. Legendary conductor Yuri Temirkanov leads the renowned St Petersburg Philharmonic through suites from two of the best-loved ballets in the repertoire, including Prokofiev’s grand-canvas response to Shakespeare’s tale of star-cross’d lovers. Towering Russian pianist Nikolai Lugansky performs Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini, Rachmaninov’s most lavishly romantic and popular score.

This concert will finish at approximately 9.20pm
