Join us on a magical train ride to the riverbank at Audley End Miniature Railway this summer for a brand-new open-air musical staging of Kenneth Grahame’s family classic ‘The Wind In The Willows’.

Meet all your favourite characters including loyal Mole, faithful Ratty and wise old Badger as they do their best to keep the mischievous Mr Toad out of trouble. Will they be able to stop the Wicked Weasel from taking over Toad Hall?!

Come along to the magical surroundings of Audley End and experience this exciting and playful take on the tale which will entertain and delight the whole family! Your ticket includes entry to Audley End Miniature Railway, a ride on the train and entry to the Wind in the Willows outdoor performance.

Seating style

Please note, this event takes place outdoors with no provided chairs. You are welcome to bring your own picnic blankets and chairs should you wish.

Infants ticket policy

Children aged 24 months and under may sit on another guest’s lap and do not require their own ticket

Tickets

Tickets for this event include entry to Audley End Miniature Railway, a ride on the train and entry to the Wind in the Willows outdoor performance.

Free carer tickets

You can request free carer or 'essential companion' ticket via phone or email. Once we have your request on record your free carer ticket will be automatically applied to future bookings you make online.

Dog policy

Please note that dogs are not allowed within the performance space at Audley End Miniature Railway.

Schedule

All timings are approximate and will be updated closer to the show date. Please check the website on the day of the performance for up-to-date information.

Latecomers can usually be admitted at a suitable gap within the performance.

Getting to Audley End Miniature Railway

There is free parking at the Audley End Miniature Railway which is an approx 300m walk from the main entrance. Please note this event is not at Saffron Hall.

When to arrive

3pm - 3.20pm
Please check in at the main entrance when you arrive to receive your wristbands. You are welcome to stow any bulky items like buggies or camping chairs in the buggy parking area and grab a drink at the Station Snacks stand. You will then be directed to take your seats on the train.

Show starts

3.30pm
All aboard! Time to catch the train which will take you on a magical journey through the woods to our riverside performance space. Make sure to take your seats early, as the train will be departing promptly at 3.30pm.

Wind in the Willows

Feel free to grab any bulky items you had stowed before the train ride and get settled on the grass next to our riverside performance space. The performance will last around 1hr and 45mins including an interval.

Interval

There'll be a short interval where you can grab a drink or go to the toilet.

Show ends

6pm (approx)
Gather your things and enjoy a short walk through the woodland back to the main entrance.

Refreshments

Hot and cold drinks, cold food and snacks will be available to purchase on site before the performance. You are welcome to bring your own picnic and drinks should you wish.

Outdoor seating

There will be no chairs provided, however you are welcome to bring your own picnic blanket or camping chairs. People with chairs will be directed to an area behind people sitting at ground level so everyone can see.

Buggy parking and bulky items

Please leave any bulky items like buggies, camping chairs or large picnic hampers at the 'buggy parking' area before you take your seats on the train. You will be able to pick these up before the show starts.

Dog policy

Please note that dogs are not allowed within the performance space at Audley End Miniature Railway.

Accessibility on the train

Each train has space for one wheelchair user in their wheelchair and several other spots for people who may wish to transfer from a seated position.

Cashless venue

Please note this is a cashless venue, so all onsite payments must be made by card.
